Life

January 29, 2008

Has been pretty good the past couple of days… I’m generally a bit happier in who I am and where I’m at. Even more so because I’ve found I can blog from work!!

I’ve got a good feeling about the band – but I think i’m getting a little ahead of myself here… Since we’re not yet formed and only 1 or 2 songs have been written thus far, it’s a little premature to be buying mansions and breaking out the vintage champagne. I’m not even expecting to be in a position where I can afford a life of Ferraris and Foie Gras; Lambourginis and Lobster – frankly I’d settle for Kia’s and Coke!

Hell, even doing one paying gig a month would be great – enough so that rehearsal spaces and transport to gigs are paid for would be bliss… Making my music self-sufficient - where anything I earn from the band, pays for being in the band – would be wonderful.

I’m also filling in at Battle Of The Bands at my old school – the younger brother of one of my best friends from school, and the son of a friend I used to work with are competing, and I’ve been enlisted as a guitar player. I’m not sure if this provides them with an unfair advantage, because when I was at school, our band nearly won the arts festival, and I was playing the bass back then, not the guitar. I’m a much more competent guitar player than I ever was bass player – the drummer’s awesome and the other guitarist is pretty good too. The bass is being shared about, and I think they’ll be pretty good as well, I’m not supremely confident abou tthe singing, but then again, it is a school concert, so we’re not expecting any Steve Tyler’s or Axl Rose’s up on stage – although I will be looking at getting the singers to engage with the crowd more, work on some audience participation techniques… After all, anything that’ll help us win the coveted prize of…. actually, I don’t know what the prize is, but I’m sure whatever it is, covet it I shall…

The women front has quietened down for now, not too fussed about it to be honest. One of the girls and work I thought was kinda hot, I’ve found out has just returned from maternity leave, and she’s married. So, there’s a no-go. Also, a couple of girls I’ve crashed and burned with in the past have seemed a tad more open and approachable the past few days, which is both good and bad – because it means I can talk to them, but despite how interesting and funny they are, talk is about all I’m ever likely to do with them.

Maybe at the jam tongiht, for the first time in the 5 years I’ve been going there, they’ll be some super-hot single babe who’s into motorcycle-riding, guitar-playing guys. Oh look, a flying pig…
